APA events include both virtual events from our APA Presents speaker series, and our annual APA Packraft Roundup, which brings together packrafters from across the country (and the world) for three days of workshops, socializing and paddling opportunities. We will be expanding our program of regional events in the second half of 2021.
APA's annual Packraft Roundup is the longest running event of its kind in North America. Since 2013, hundreds of packrafters have made new friends and paddled new rivers at APA Roundups in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado. Roundup locations are chosen for their variety of accessible river sections, which allow both beginners and experts to find nearby outings that suit them. Roundups also feature workshops, a keynote speaker from the packrafting world, raffle and an auction of premium packrafting gear donated by APA's partners.
APA's virtual event series brings key figures in the packrafting world in front of a live online audience. Packraft educator Mark Oates kicked off 2021 for us with his "Boat, Don't Float" presentation, a packrafting skills masterclass, followed by Alaskan adventurer Luc Mehl introducing his upcoming book, "The Packraft Handbook". Full recordings of the events are available for FREE here on the APA website.
Watch NowAPA is forming Regional Chapters across the US with the goal of serving more regions and helping volunteers connect with other packrafters in their area and issues that are important to them. For those unable to travel to a national event like the APA Packraft Roundup, or simply looking for more opportunities to meet local paddling partners, regional events offer a more accessible type of gathering. If you are interested in supporting the packrafting community in your area by helping to organize an APA regional chapter, please contact us at info@packraft.org.
